In general, the entire experience was helpful in examining my future in the IT or gaming industries. When I was talking with the various developers and companies, I was able to learn more about the industry than I was able to before. Normally, I wouldn't be able to learn so much about the industry from someone who has had their fair share of knowledge about the industry, so just talking with experienced members in the field helped me the most when examining my future.
I learned a little bit about the IT industry at the expo and I was able to check out some of the booths at the expo. One of the booths that I went to was talking about computer repair and how computers are built from the individual parts to the entire machine. I was able to take apart, examine, and place some of the computer components and see how they all connect to one another. I haven't really messed with computer much less built one so looking at the guts of a computer has helped me to understand how a computer works little more. I also went to a booth about the automization of work and how robotics work. The speaker there was showcasing a Blue Raspberry, a controller for different sensors on a robot, and how it works in correlation to robots. Although I don't know much about robotics, it was cool to see how the sensors on the robot worked and what they could be used for outside the realm of IT.
At the expo, most of what I heard was what the game and IT industry do and how that relates to other industries. The panel that was given at the expo gave the students who attended some knowledge of the industry from actual professionals and how students can achieve what they did and more with some work. I learned about the education requirements for getting into the gaming industry, how games are being used in an education setting, and what the IT industry does. I talked at booths related to these subjects and learned a lot about each subject. On a less serious but fun note, I was able to check out the virtual reality booths that were set up at the expo as well. I was able to wear various VR headsets such as the Oculus Rift and the Gear VR headset and experience how virtual reality felt as of now. When I put on the headsets, I felt as if I was really there in the game or scenario, and when I took off the headsets, I felt off balance since I was just moving in the headsets but not in real life. Although virtual reality isn't as real as it could get, virtual reality has come a long way in the gaming industry and it gave me an insight at the future of gaming and virtual reality.
